GPSF day trip to Tarkwa Breman community clinic Aug 2023. The Clinic is part of the cocoa 360 campus which leverages community farm revenues to self sustain health and education in the community. Dr. Fynn was to hold a one day clinic for the community, unfortunately the rain complicated by galamsey activity in the area flooded the road to the town. A 30-minute journey from Bordie to Breman became a 6-hour journey of canoe rides, wading in water and walking parts of the journey carrying our medications donated by Americare USA. For this reason the medications worth ~$25,000 including antibiotics, oral hypoglycemics, antihypertensives, antifungals, multivitamins, and peripheral line catheters were presented to the clinic physician assistant who later shared with us the benefit the community, especially the antenatal clinic, received from it.

The mission of GPSF is to support medical education in Ghana through strategic partnerships with all major stakeholders in the healthcare system in Ghana. In January 2019, through the leadership of GPSF and the University of Health and Allied Sciences School of Medicine, I, Dr. Gabriel Asumeng, attending physician in internal medicine, and Dr. Immaculate Foy, senior resident in internal medicine, went for a four-weeks mission trip/global health elective at Ho Government Hospital. Upon arrival in Accra, we boarded a minibus to Ho. We were warmly received by Mrs. Victoria Quartson, administrative secretary to the dean of the medical school, who helped coordinate the elective.

GPSF organized a medical mission to the Tarkwa municipal area in July, 2017 where medications, surgical instruments, foley catheters, gauzes and bandages, prescription reading glasses and other medical supplies were donated to the Tarkwa Hospital and Amenfi Central Health Center.
